They used to sell tickets by hacking the system
Renaissance Aviation Services Limited conducts business as General Sales Agent of Indian Airlines IndiGo. While reviewing the sales report last May 16-31, they found that one of their agencies named Fatin Air Services had issued an unexpected number of tickets worth Tk. 1 crore 6 lakh from Bangladesh and Nepal. Due to doubts about the matter, after reviewing the internal system and bank statements, they found that Fatin Air Services Limited had not issued any ticket using Indigo's service for three years. In this incident, a case was registered under the Digital Security Act at Banani police station on June 13.
After that, the airline company Indigo took over the servers. This is how unknown hackers were identified. Later, the City-Cyber Unit of the Police's Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested two people for allegedly embezzling crores of taka in this incident.
In initial interrogation, they confessed their involvement in the incident.
Regarding this, the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Internet Referral Team of the Cyber Investigation Department Dhrubo Jyotirmoy Gop said that the two arrested persons are - Md. Rashedul Islam (29) and Abdullah Al Noman alias Miraj (24). They were arrested from Nayapaltan area of the capital. At that time, two mobile phones, a laptop, a pen drive and a passport were seized from them. Rashedul Islam was a former employee of Renaissance Aviation Services Limited and Abdullah Al Noman alias Miraj was an agent of the company. The operation to arrest their domestic and foreign associates in this incident is going on.
